Dr. Aimee C. Holdwick, DAOM, DiplOM (NCCAOM), LAc, earned both her master’s and doctoral degrees from Pacific College. She has been on faculty at the college since 2010, teaching in all acupuncture program departments and as a clinical supervisor. In 2022, she achieved the rank of Professor. Dr. Holdwick has held various leadership roles at the college since 2017, currently serving as the Institutional Director of Clinical Practice. She has maintained a private practice in San Diego since 2009.
Prior to studying acupuncture, Dr. Holdwick had a successful career as a computer engineer. Her undergraduate degrees were a BSE in computer engineering and a BA in English literature from the University of Michigan. She also earned a professional certificate in teaching adult learners from the University of California San Diego Division of Extended Studies.
As a young adult, she was a pedestrian involved in a motor vehicle accident, sustaining extensive injuries requiring years of recovery. Acupuncture was pivotal to her healing process. This experience was transformative, compelling her to study acupuncture. She is directed by the desire to help others, as she was helped, to optimize their health and well-being. Having a distinctly personal experience with acupuncture, trauma, chronic pain, and neurological disorders, she is invested in the advancement of integrative medicine. Of particular interest is the role stress plays in our health. As a post-graduate doctoral fellow, she produced original research using acupressure as a stress management technique for nurses. Dr. Holdwick views her role at Pacific College as an opportunity to generate an exponential positive influence on our field.
